The pros are it's quick and to the point. The cons are that words can be misread (and that opens a whole other can of worms) and then you are waiting (sometimes days) for a reply.
There have been a couple of times recently where I have opted to fill in a webpage 'contact us' form – and then never had a reply at all. If I had just called in the first place, I would have had my answer there and then.
Of course, that doesn't detract from the fact that on both of these occasions, the company's involved have not responded to a website enquiry, which again is bad practice.
So my tip for the day – call instead of email or text. Have a conversation with (hopefully) a nice, helpful person, get your query answered there and then, and make sure the art of conversation doesn't die!
